Worsin's Immersive Power Armor Garage

The largest power armor overhaul for Fallout 4.

Version 2.9.5f

Complete power armor overhaul with HUNDREDS of new mods, sound effects and much more. Advanced Power Armor with 6 unique specializations, hundreds of new power armor mods, new sound effects and hotkeyed mod control with an MCM menu. It changes how power armor works while leaving vanilla power armor untouched, so mods that touch vanilla power armor keep working.

What's inside

Requirements

  • Fallout 4
  • Automatron DLC
  • Mod Configuration Menu (optional, for hotkeys)

Quick start

WIPAG is NOT complicated. It may seem that way at first, but it's just very different from vanilla Fallout 4. The idea: make every power armor model viable through the entire game, and give you powerful mods that specialize your armor without making it overpowered.

Everything works by unlocking. Add a specialization to your frame and it unlocks Plating. Plating in turn unlocks Plating Enhancements. A newly unlocked category shows up one level above the item that unlocked it, so hit TAB in the Power Armor Station to see it.

NoteNever modify power armor with more than one set in your inventory or on your frame at a time. It can glitch the Power Armor Station.

Six specializations

Craft any power armor model as Advanced Power Armor and choose 1 of 6 unique specializations.

01

Recon

Unparalleled speed and mobility. With unfettered access to Powered Hydraulics (jump) and Improved Gears (speed), Recon is by far the fastest power armor in the game. Light as a feather, so it carries more than most specs, but it's built for scouting, not fights: low access to defensive plating and damage mods.

02

Assault

Pure combat. Assault power armor is designed to slaughter, with some of the highest-damage Targeting Matrix and a wide range of damage boosters. The second-highest damage spec, with really good access to defense mods, so it holds its own in any fight.

03

Heavy Assault

Access to the highest tier defensive mods makes Heavy Assault bar-none the tankiest power armor available. It takes a severe beating but won't do the damage Assault does, and it's the slowest spec. Use it for the most difficult situations in the game.

04

Wastelander

The jack of all trades. Decent run speed mods and good defense in high radiation make it great for exploration, with decent access to damage buffs. Good at a lot of things, the best at none.

05

Brawler

Dedicated to unarmed combat, with the best selection of unarmed mods in the game. No other spec comes close on unarmed damage buffs and AOE damage emitters. Brawler is the unarmed version of Assault.

06

Sniper

Pure offense. Sniper gets the coveted 3-second Time Slow on Iron Sights and superior Targeting Matrix options for big damage bonuses against specific enemy types, but very low defense. Good speed bonuses get it into position, and good carry weight lets you lug that heavy rifle around.

NoteYou cannot mix specializations. Doing so gives you a debuff that is not pleasant!

Mod slots and tiers

Every piece of Advanced Power Armor has multiple mod slots, and each mod comes in many tiers that you unlock as you play. You can use Advanced Power Armor fairly early without it being overpowered, because early on you only reach the lower tiers.

Mods are spread across slots in a logical, immersive way, and many are gated behind applying certain mods first. They're also distributed by specialization: every spec reaches almost every mod, but the tier you get depends on your spec. Sniper gets the higher tier Targeting Matrix, Recon the higher tier Improved Gears. That's what gives each spec its own play style.

At endgame, each specialization gets its own Legendary mod that combines several mods into one, usually with a toggle switch to cycle through its modes.

Immersive, flexible and balanced

WIPAG is built around high-difficulty mods and very strong armor, but it takes real effort to reach the higher tiers.

Balance comes from give and take. The highest tier mods require an item that uses up one of your mod slots: top tier speed mods need a Turbo Motor, which takes the Vent and Hydraulics slot. Depending on your spec you may not need it (Recon gets high tier speed without a Turbo Motor).

You get far more freedom to design armor that fits your play style, but maxing out one area means a sacrifice somewhere else. Advanced Power Armor is definitely stronger than vanilla, so pair it with mods that make your playthrough harder.

Hotkeys, MCM and toggle switches

Control your power armor with hotkeys, using in-game craftable toggle switches, the MCM menu or the terminal menu. Turn off power core ejection so you never eject your core by accident, switch jump and speed mods on and off, and much more, all at the touch of a key.

You can also craft power armor frames, scrap old frames, carry frames in your inventory and drop them in any settlement.

Not needed with WIPAG

WIPAG already covers these, so remove them:

  • Buildable Power Armor Frames
  • Craftable PA Frames and Pieces
  • Configurable Power Armor Core Drain

NoteLike any mod that adds craftable items tied to vanilla perks, WIPAG won't work with perk overhauls that change which perks exist: you won't be able to craft its items.

Installation

  1. Download WIPAG and install it with Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex. The FOMOD installer walks you through the options and add-ons.
  2. Grab paints from the WIPAP style packs and decals from WIPAD.
  3. Make sure these lines are in your Fallout4Custom.ini, which sets you up for all mods:
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

NoteLoad WIPAG at the bottom of your load order for best results, and always load compatibility patches below the main files. Upgrading from 1.7x? Start a new game. Installing into a saved game is at your own risk.
